I recently began developing my very first ebook, which I plan to release within the next 30 days. To bring you up to speed, I'll paste in a recent blog post:
It feels like magic is flowing through my veins. Everything is working together so perfectly, so seamlessly, that it's almost surreal. It's at moments like this that you know that you are in line with your goals and moving in the right direction.
It started out as a short guide that I was going to put together to accompany an upcoming Teleseminar. I knew that I would never be able to give the listeners everything that they needed in one short hour of audio... so I set out to fill in the gaps by writing a guide that they could download and study at their own pace.
Sitting down to write this guide, the words just started to flow. The outline came together in a matter of minutes, and the "little guide" grew into a very exciting project. It was at that point that I knew this was going to turn into much more than originally planned.
Looking back over my work for the last year, it was interesting to see how many times the topic of Passive Income had come up. I have obviously had this project inside of me for quite some time, and now perhaps the timing is just right to bring it all to the table.
Everything that I have learned in the last 8 years is going into this book. Not just into the content of the book itself, but into the project as a whole. I have never felt more aligned.
You can see the very first evidence of this work now at: www.PassiveIncomeGuide.com
I'll share more with you later... for now, I am off to write another chapter
This post isnt meant to be promotional, but rather, I thought it might be fun to document the process and the progress. Any other ebook publishers have a word of advice for me? Or any potential publishers/developers have questions or want to discuss details? I'm all ears!
(some people would laugh at that last comment - I do have big ears ) |

....you've got it all under control. As a writer, I understood the feelings that you were describing. My experience is that when it all feels so RIGHT like that, and so EASY, the work is usually some of your very BEST! Keep at it!
As for documenting it, I think that is wonderful. I am currently doing the same thing. I'm moving in new directions in regard to my business, and I'm documenting it all. I'm doing it in a private, hidden, password protected blog right now. If I do it right, and do a really good documentation, my plan is to eventually make that blog public, so that others might learn from it (the good, the bad, and the downright UGLY).
Keep up the good work! |

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, Kelly
I made great progress on the actual content of the book this evening, and am finding this to be so much fun!! The "placeholder" page that I put up this morning has already received more than 20 requests to join the notification list. It's all very exciting, and I'm looking forward to launch day! |

Lynn,
Documenting the steps you take, or keeping a running diary is a great way to keep track of events.
The real value is this however comes into play when you write another book or piece of software...whatever it may be, because you will have available a ready reference of what worked and what didn't saving you considerable time and energy second time around.
I find it valuable to record sources of material, URL's and any other important references in my documentation as well for future use...you never know when they might just get you out of trouble.
The other consideration is that the documented material could become a book in itself that could be marketed to others if it includes step to step details...just a thought.
Cheers

Hi Lynn,
How is the book coming along? I would be interested to know.
I have a few people online who have written books which are quite good but are not making any money.
Not because the books are not good but because they are not marketing them properly.
I have offered to help but I don't think they are overly fussed, bit of a pity really.
Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris, thanks for asking!
I am a bit behind on launch, but back on the project and enjoying the actual writing & editing at this point. I was sidetracked a couple of months ago with an unexpected move when we made a transition for my Grandmother (who I was caring for full-time for the 2 years prior).
At any rate I have decided not to rush myself, but to put some quality time into the writing and much thought into the marketing. I am also planning to go to print with this title.
I have seen some do poorly with sales (or not as well as I expected, considering the topic & content) - and I agree, it's a shame. Is there anything in particular you would suggest in regards to marketing info products? |

Hi Lynn,
How big do you want to get? The worlds your oyster if you choose to "think outside the squares"
Who wants to earn extra or passive income? Most of the developed world and then some, many just never make the first move.
Online you can -
Do your sales letter in foreign languages.
Submit to foreign SE's (fast becoming 20% plus of searchers).
Add a software gift that will convert your book to other languages.
Ebook directories.
Amazon, yahoo stores, etc.
Offline -
Get the book printed and published.
All major book stores.
Up sell to your membership site "Turning Ideas Into Dollars Membership Site" (discount your upsell if they have purchased the book).
Trial brochures (direct mail) to households.
Trial booklets to households.
Book clubs.
Radio station plugs for free - they keep the affiliate profit, you get half and up-sell another 10% of all customers.
A few ideas to get you started.
Cheers, Chris

| Those are excellent ideas, Chris! I'm going to print them out and put some consideration into each one - they all have a lot of potential! |
