As an affiliate what software do you use to cloak your links?
Affiliate commission theft is still rampant so are you sure that you are receiving all you are entitled to?
Research suggests that up to 30% of all affiliate commissions are stolen.
So what are you doing to protect what is rightly yours?
Cheers

I cloak my links to an extent, but nothing is foolproof. For the most part, my subscribers/members want to use my link to make purchases (I often have people email or even call to ask if I have a link for a particular product they want to order). That said, I worry more about a program that redirects my visitors (who think they are ordering through me) and steals my commissions in the process.
What *should* we do? I use Spyware & Adware programs, along with Antivirus scanners to keep my system clean... But is there something more we should know or do?
30% can be A LOT. We should definitely educate ourselves on the possible solutions. |

Hey Kevin!
I think it depends on who your "targeted" market is. If you are targeting the Internet Marketing "How-To" crowd then protecting your affiliate links is the thing to do.
If you're targeting a non Internet Marketing crowd, then I believe it's really less of an issue. I'd think that most of these people don't know about and/or really couldn't care about whether the links are "affiliate links" or not. They just want to get the info they are looking for.
Myself ... I'm not using any "cloaking" software. I still mainly use the redirects. It's cleaner looking than using the actual affiliate links.
My nickel, anyway ...

I'm using the cloaking and redirect functions included in my tracking software (AdTrackz) ... it also allows me quick access to the hundreds of AP campaigns I'm involved in.
I usually create folders and subfolders, and juice up the title and head, to help the major SEs find relevance in them ... and it's been working pretty well, thus far.
I hold off the redirect an extra 10 seconds ... and put a little relevant content on the page to be redirected ... with a title keyword laced hyperlink, just in case the redirect fails.
When it comes to ClickBank, though ... I generally use simple redirects.
Much success,
