How do you build links with other sites? Does anyone contact sites directly and request to exchange links?

There are many ways to build links for your sites. You can exchange links with other webamasters. Sometimes you will see requests to do so in forums. You can also write articles and submit them to article directories while including your link in the byline.

And of course, you can sumbit your website's link to directories and search engines.

I think at times you can actually by links too although with so many free ways to gain links I do not think this is something I would do.
