I have read so much that says "The money is in your List"

So does that mean that those of us that are yet to build a list will not be successful until we do so?

Surely there must be other ways in which you can earn online without a list?

I'm only a learner here but isn't having a list to promote to just another way of getting traffic to your site?

So why is a list so important?

Hi August,

It is an interesting question that you raise.

Do you need a list, well the answer is no, you can still profit online without a list but ultimately it can be more beneficial if you do have a list.

To simplify things, you can promote a product or service online, be it your own or as an affiliate by using Google Adwords, this comes at a cost because you have to pay for these ads but those that do click through will generally be reasonably targeted and the possibility of achieving a sale through this method is relatively good.

However if you build a list, that is a list of individuals that have a strong interest in the area or niche that you work in then these also tend to be reasonably targeted and they are likely to respond to your offer.

So whichever way you choose to go building a list should still be a priority as these people can be sold to over and over again for no additional cost if you treat them right.

This in fact can be a huge topic and can spread in many directions but the summary above is just two quick comments showing just some of the things that can be done with or without a list.

As Kevin says, you don't need a list right away because you can always make sales and profit online without one. But if you do have your own product then as soon as you start making sales you start building a list of potential costumers for the future. But don't spam them OK?

I will be honest, I have never used a list to date. F or me this has not created any problems. I have generated more than enough business without a list.
