What does everyone think about those Ebay stores that are poping up in cities and towns. I have not been in one, but there is one down the street now. It is my understanding that you give the item you want to sell to them, and they do the rest. I don't think I will ever use one of those.

As yet I have not seen one appear here in Australia but I am sure they will come.

How exactly do they work?

Do they sell your goods on your behalf of and take a % of the auction sale price as a commission or are there upfront fees?

I would be keen to get some feedback on this.

Cheers Wink

These stores that I have seen tend to work off of a commission. I have never used one myself, but I can understand their appeal. For many dealing with selling items on e-bay can be a real pain.

One near me has the following commission break down

35% of the first $200
30% of the next $300
20% of amount over $500
Plus eBay & PayPal Fees

While they do take a large cut, I have to think that they still have many people interested in using them. Dealing with buyers on e-bay can be a real pain, so they handle it for you. You just have to drop off the item. This one only accepts items that they think will be worth over 50 dollars.

I would think that there is the potential to make a lot of money doing this service. The only catch is that you really have to be in the right location where there are a lot of people who want to sell things on e-bay.

it's a good service for those who don't have computer access or who aren't comfortable giving their information to ebay to register and sell items...

and heck, it's working for SOMEONE, right?

This is just another service that has cashed in on a market...many people don't know how to list things on eBay nor do they want to learn so eBay Stores have taken the opportunity to benefit from these people.

Everyone's a winner!

As an aside I am aware of a regular ebayer that sell artworks on commission for artists and does very well on eBay providing this service.

Cheers Wink

I have been contemplating getting in with an ebay store. I make these tiny beads and somne handmade crafts.
And we have a few of these type stores locally. Do you think it woudl be worth a dip into that pool as a start to get my name around?

Jimmys Devoted,

As with everything testing is a big thing.

Why don't you try eBay and see what results you achieve, If it does not come up to expectations you can explore other opportunities.

Personally I don't think I would use one of those ebay stores to sell my items. I mean, you have to think about it... after you pay them and they pay your ebay fees and all, your losing quite a bit of money when you could've just sold it on ebay yourself!

I'd prefer just to do it myself and keep the money for me Smile Aside from those pesky ebay fees!!

I would not use one of these stores because eBay is so easy to use that I would rather try to sell it myself instead of paying commissions to someone else. My friends actually look for me or my advise when they want to sell or buy something online Smile
