Hi All,

The online marketing scene is changing daily with the introduction of new and interesting ways in which to deliver your message to your subscribers and customers.

Given the growth of Blogs and Rss Feeds pumping out live and fresh information every minute along with the vast amount of data that you can source for free by just doing a simple search using your favourite Search Engine, Why would you create an eBook?

In what circumstances now do you feel that an eBook is an appropriate medium to sell or distribute your message?

Do short sharp reports set up as a viral promotions hold more value?

Your comments would be appreciated Smile

Cheers Wink

creating an ebook is venture in seeing what you can create. Its a way to see how you put information in and what you get out of it. It can chelleneg yu into seeing if you can complete the task and it makes for a great manuscript afterwards.
An ebook is a great way to test the waters of interest and to see where pitfalls are in teh delivery and continuity before hard publishing.

You can use a blog for customer service for your eBook. The eBook I wrote that explains how to build a business website using NVU and free templates has a blog set up with all of the chapters posted to it. This way, if anyone has questions on any part of the eBook, they can post them and have them answered. However, although this was a lot of extra work, none of the people who have bought the eBook have accessed the blog to ask any questions.

Back to the topic at hand -- why write an eBook...

As a service professional I find it adds to one's credibility to be an author as well.

Best Regards,

I reread the opening title.. why create an ebook.... it made me think not in terms so much of marketing as the posts suggested but why create an ebook. I looked at it from the point of: why creat e hard bound book, why create a greeting card,, whay this format.

For me, the format allwed me to create something that filled an immediate neeed. I was working on a dollc alss and needed a textbook that didnt exist. If i had waited for traditional publishing those students would stil be waiitng for the text. And ebook gave instant satisfaction, instant acess and allowed to get valuable feedback for the print version.

It also allowed me to see if selling it to a reprint publisher is worthwhile. ANd so far that " free gamble" has paid off. It also allwoed me to see if an investment in a bundle ISBN is worth it. and with the popularity of my books it has proven just what I needed.
maybe this answers abit more what the opening question posed.

I think writing an eBook could be rewarding in some sort of way even if you don't sell it... I wrote a "Learn Spanish" ebook about 2 months ago because I speak fluent Spanish so I thought it was interesting. I've sold some copies but not many but that doesn't matter! I learned a lot about the English language while writing this eBook. Here is the link if you want to see it.
