Hello everyone,
I just came across this forum last night when I posted an article here. It occurred to me this morning that I should probably introduce myself so you know who the heck I am.
Anyway, as you can see, my name is Trent Brownrigg. I live in Ames, Iowa where I am a Business Marketing student at Iowa State University. I also have a Bachelors degree in Criminology but decided to get a Marketing degree after I got into internet marketing/online business.
I have had my online business for about a year and a half now. The first 6 months I had very little success because I had the "jump around" syndome that so many newbies have.
Then I finally settled down, started my own website, and started learning all I could each day. I am still not rich but I make enough to pay all my expenses while I am still in college.
I now have 7 websites (2 in the "work at home" category and 5 "niche" sites) and have plans to build more.
I plan to be earning enough money by this time next year to support myself full-time once I graduate college. At the rate I am learning and implementing ideas, and my income is growing, I don't think I will have any troubles with this goal.
I hope I can learn as well as teach here at this great forum. |

Hi Trent,
Thanks for introducing yourself....and welcome to the forum.
I did notice your article and considered it a drive by, however as you have introduced yourself and intend to offer some constructive advice to our members I will leave your article in place.
So maybe you would like to tell us what prompted you to get involved in Internet Marketing, what were the first moves you made to get started and what difficulties you encountered etc?
I look forward to your feedback.
Cheers

Well, I started getting interested in "working at home" when I graduated college (the first time) and was looking for a job. I saw an ad in the paper for some sort of work at home thing. It ended up being a bunch of crap but it got me interested.
I then started searching the internet for opportunities and found the SFI business opportunity. I really liked it so I joined. The problem was that I also started joining any opportunity that sounded good and was full of hype (most of them).
This, of course, got me nowhere and I think it is a fatal mistake that many newbies make. For some reason, I was contacted one day out of the blue by a leader in my SFI upline. This one contact set me back on track.
After that I stuck with the one opportunity that I found to be the best which was also the original one I joined ... SFI. Wow, looking back now I it makes me cringe to think how much time and money I spent jumping around in the first six months.
Anyway, I then started learning all I could about internet marketing and taking the steps needed to succeed.
Once I "learned the ropes" of internet marketing I then branched out into some other opportunities and am doing well with them now. However, I am still with SFI and still think they are the best (especially for newbies).
I now make my entire income from internet marketing. No, I am not rich but I am doing alright. I am still a student so that helps. I plan to be making enough to keep at this full-time once I graduate.
I would say that the two biggest obstacles for me getting started was...
1) All the jumping around I did (advice for newbies is to pick one and stick with it)
2) All the learning (which is absolutely necessary) |

Hi Trent,
It is good to hear a little about your experience.
What you have been through is common to many...however a lot give up and never taste any form of success because they continue to look for the easy solution.
Marketing is no different to any other business...you get out what you put in, there is no reward without effort, it is pleasing to see that it has worked for you.
Cheers
