Just thinking about e-books as compared to conventional books...
What subject matter tends to sell better as an e-book?
I was thinking that for textbooks people tend to like to have a physical book that they can carry around, take to class, highlight, etc.
For novels, as far as I know, people seem to prefer physical books that they can carry around, take on long journeys, read on the sofa, etc.
I should imagine that things like reports, or anything that people might want to read at their computer would be preferable as an e-book. |

I would think that selling an ebook is more about advertising the ease with which you can use it... more than the content!
having said that, fiction is a big seller right now for ebooks but I can see textbooks being a big plus in the future! |

I didn't realise that fiction was selling well in e-book form, I must have a google on this topic.
As for textbooks - trouble is, in e-book form you can't take them to class, highlight, or add footnotes, so I am just a little concerned about the practicality of this. Of course, you could print out the e-book, but then, in that case, I'd rather buy the hardcopy. |

Fictionwise is a good site for e-books - they seem to be selling well, at least at first glance.
it all depends on the improving tech to give people a workable alternative - me, I like holding a book in my hands still. |

| Thanks for introducing me to fictionwise - they look quite good. I notice that they do alternate history novels, including the much acclaimed Harry Turtledove. |

I WUV Turtledove... tho I wish he would finish the series with the US having a second Civil war.
if you want some free books that are in public domain, may I suggest project gutenberg.org - all their books are in public domain and free to anyone - lots of classics there! |

I found that craftsing and project books sell really well as compared to self help books.
Self help books on an ebook reader may seem belaberous, where as a desktop book on crafts can be more page friendly.
