I was thinking about using the Ebay API and create a niche product ebay store where I would display their auctions but also provide a lot of interesting information about that niche product.
Has anyone had any success with this model, or any general advice with this endeavor? |

There are plenty of sites up already using this principal but I can't vouch for there success or otherwise.
The trick is to make your site stand out or offer something that is different to all of the others.
You need to focus in on a niche and build from there.

Any ideas of some good niche sites off the top of your head?
I was thinking musical instruments because this would give high return if the bid did come from your site.
I have heard of these but have not seen any very successful ones. Maybe it's not worth it to leverage the ebay system in this way but I would be interested to try it out. |

There are thousands of ideas for niche sites around if you take a look however to find the best and most profitable you need to carry out some detailed research first.
It is not as difficult as it might sound remembering that good preplanning can make a huge difference to your success or otherwise.
Just my two cents.

| When looking for a niche area for online marketing and selling, I reckon always go with a product that you know well. I think you can always sell better when you are selling in an area where you have a fair bit of knowledge and expertise. Customers appreciate it when you can advise them on what they are buying. |
