|
|
I am curious, with the way in which communication is changing so rapidly these days and the advent of video and audio online do eBooks still have a place?
It just seems to me that marketers are moving towards these new forms of communication, is it because they are more successful or is it just a way in which they can differentiate themselves from the traditional methods such as ebooks?
Your comments would be appreciated.
Regards

eBooks, like everything else, can be wildly successful - it just depends on the quality of the writing and the subject matter. If you have a large potential audience and effective marketing platform, there's no reason in the world you can't make a good income from an eBook.
For example, this woman: http://www.howtomakegelcandles.com/gelbook.htm has become really popular with her eBook - and that's such a specific market. How-To books are big sellers, both in print and digital format.
You just need to find a market that isn't already saturated, and then ensure that your book is well-written and useful. It takes a great deal of time, especially considering the marketing involved, but it can certainly pay off! |

| it's all in the marketing - you have to create the demand for it and keep pushing the ease with which you can download an ebook - and the cost! |

I agree, it must be in the marketing. I've been in journalism for a long time and I've always taken the traditional route... yeah, yeah, the SASE/cover letter/query, etc. stuff. I'm still not sure if I'll bite the bullet and try an ebook. If I *do* I'll need to know where to start... I'll be watching this thread to find out!

| Destiny, don't get me wrong - traditional publishing is still "better" for writers in the long run, but if you're promoting a business then an eBook can help get the word out. |

Oh, absolutely, CarrieGee... that doesn't come into question in my mind at all, I've been at this a very long time. Traditional manuscripts go to NYC top publishers and that's that. I was talking about e-books that would be about... well, ebook topics.

It seems that you all might have some comments of value to add to the poll Kevin is running in the - Forum Website Development Project...Product Ideas - category in this forum.
I am sure he would appreciate your opinion.
