Seeking comment here please.
Domain names ending with .com are seen to be the preferred and most commonly known or sought after but...
Are Domain names such as .info, .ws, .edu and so on seen as less valuable.
I acknowledge that when most people type in a domain name the first thought is to use .com but surely as most people use search engines to find the information they are seeking does it really matter?
Your thoughts...
Cheers

From what I've heard, the problem is that the search engines themselves tend to bias toward the .com as opposed to the .ws and .info suffixes.
.ws is actually for a specific country, just like .tv. Those countries are allowing their suffixes to be purchased by anyone just so that they can make some money for themselves. .Com will be the most popular for a while, and if you don't have the .com version of a website its a little tougher to market (especially for people who can't tell the difference b/w .com and .net or otherwise, and there are a lot out there).
Anyway, can anyone verify that .com is preferred by google and other search engines? |
