Hello Everyone!
My name is Tammy, and I'm from Nora Springs, Iowa. I'm an Independent Consultant with Passion Parties. I've recently started trying to promote my business and it's products online, so I'm looking forward to learning from all of you. When I ask questions, I may sound extremely ignorant, so be patient with me.
I have a really silly question to start with, about Google adwords. A few weeks ago, when I first started using them, after just a few days, I was at the top position in Google for a number of search terms. I started to get quite a few leads and product orders. A week or so later, my hits slowed down, and my google placement was way out there. I don't know what I did to begin with, that made my ranking so high, so I don't really know what to do to get it back there. Also, if I'm using a keyword targeted toward a specific product that I offer, should I code my keyword url as the page of my catalog that offers that specific product, instead of my homepage? I would really appreciate any advice! |

Hi Tammy,
Firstly, Welcome aboard, we are glad you decided to join us.
Now there are no silly questions, we all have had to learn somewhere, remember there are often others that have similar questions but are to shy to post them so please don't be concerned.
In regards to your Adwords question it is difficult to determine what the issue may be given the information you have provided, Adwords is certainly not an exact science and success or otherwise with your campaigns can vary greatly.
If you can give us a little more detail one of the team here will do their best to provide an explanation.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome!
I'm definitely learning that Google "is not an exact science". I've been working on it, non-stop, for about 3 days. One thing I did, that I hope will help, is on the campaign for my products, I adjusted it so that they land on the page of my catalog, that talks about that specific keyword. Also, I think that I had my 4 campaigns working against each other before, by having the same keywords for all of them. See, I told you I'm just learning. What a stupid mistake. I've just been racking my brain, and using the keyword tool constantly, to find the right keywords and phrases. I ended up running up quite a large account balance with Google, by not defining my keywords enough, and when I would go to the page on my hits tracker, to see where the hits came from, I didn't like the ads, that were sharing the same page. I was getting a lot of junk hits! So, I spent a lot of time, searching google to see what comes up for each keyword I'm thinking of using, to make sure it's something that I want to be associated with. If you have any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it! |

Hi Tammy,
Preparing for a solid PPC campaign initially involves good research.
You have the product identified so your next task is finding good keywords.
A good tool to use is 'Wordtracker" you can have 30 day free trial and in that time you can certainly gain enough info on good keywords to help your campaign.
Go to: http://www.wordtracker.com to set up your trial, some people however prefer Adword Analyzer, http://www.adwordanalyzer.com
I apologise if I have mis-understood your comment but as it appears to be your first campaign I felt it was important to stress the value of research.
If you want a good book to read on running successful Adwords campaigns I suggest you try Greg's book: Adwords made Easy
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Hi Everyone!
It's definitely been a long time since I posted, but I am really interested in learning how I might position myself in the search engines, other than using PPC, as I spent a fortune on this over the past year. I don't have a lot of time to spend on advertising, or a lot of funds either. I am now an Executive Director with Passion Parties, and so between parties, and working with my team, I'm extremely busy.
Is there anything that I can try, or any company with targeted traffic that I could possibly try, that anyone else has had success with? |
