Hi,
My name is Luke O'Neill, residing in Melbourne Australia. I love and believe in the idea of selling your idea or thoughts and not your time. I would like to believe that the internet can provide the conduit for this dream. This is why I spend lots of time on the web seeing what is available. Better an hour or two online than infront of the boob tube.
I just finished working for a Telstra, a large Telco, and found myself frustrated to the max. No matter how hard you work at a job, you are always replacable. And you can't sell your job (though I heard of a doorman Job in London who makes 100,000 quid a year, and when they retire, they sell the job for around 40,000 quid to the next guy!!) I like working on computers, playing with software so I built a website for my brother to promote his car transmission business. It worked great.
So I built another, with dreamweaver, and following advise from "The Super Affiliate Hand Book" built a website telling of my struggle and promoting the "The Super Affiliate Handbook" as a affiliate.
Of course, no body has bought this book via my website and that has led me to forums, such as this one. Kevin Robb, also an Aussie, has kindly offered advise to change the website and make it more successful.
So, here we are. The big thing, about internet marketing is the absoulte confusion that abounds in how to start. Any website that promotes itself as a marketing site generally confuses the hell out of me. Where do you start? And do you always have to have someone else do it??.
I believe that first and foremost, YOU need to do it. I mean, just do it. If it fails, then you have learnt another path to follow. If you get others to do it, then you will not learn and you need to understand deeply what is it that you are doing. So, when throw up a website and want people to go to it and click on a link, you must learn this art. Advise, I guess, is what I am after. Experienced, honest people who have traveled down your path who can offer advise to help you succeed.
I hope all who come here can help one another, have a laugh and grow. And swap homebrew recipes.
Cheers
Luke O'Neill

Hi Luke,
Welcome, We are glad you have decided to join us.
As you say starting you Internet Marketing journey can be somewhat of a daunting task but provided you are willing to actually put some effort into it you can reap the rewards for this quite quickly.
So in line with our offline discussion I am going to put up a new category specifically to deal with your website...that is we will use it as a project and ask all forum members to help in developing it into a potential income earner.
This will provide some work on your part but we will discuss and review as we go, at a pace that suits you to ensure we achieve the maximum result.
So go to the category named "Forum Website Development Project" and lets give Luke a hand.
Cheers
Kevin Robb |
