We're new here so hi everyone. My wife Cathy and I happened across your forum so we decided to stop in and say hello to all of you.

Our first post has to do with how we market our own home business for free on myspace. We're not pitching myspace but just sharing how much success we have had on it.

We are playing with some additional strategies on how to use it even more effectively and would like to brainstorm along with anyone wanting to do so.

Now getting friends on myspace is really easy. We just do a browse for whatever zipcode we want to target. Then we enter whether we want to target men or women or both and what age group. So we can get a pretty clean list of prospects instantly. Then we have our two teenagers get on their laptops and request all the profiles that come up to join as our friends. For some reason people accept the unsolicited friend requests very well. In fact we get 5 people out of 10 actually accepting the friend request. And our kids love it because we pay them $1 for every new friend that comes on. We know there are bots available to automate this process but we prefer whitehat marketing. Call us purists. Besides it gives our kids a chance to partcipate in an online marketing venture and learn how to network as well.

But what happens when a prospect gets a friend request they also get our picture along with the request. They click it because they want to see who we are and so they check out our page. We even use the name "Legal Thief" to grab their attention. Then of course the myspace page is used as a funnel leading over to our website. And that's when the autoresponder kicks in.

It's just a matter of configuring your myspace page to effortlessly and seamlessly connect with your website. And have the two work in tandem. For instance on our website we use a "Still Skeptical?" link under a secure server link which links to our myspace blog. Then our myspace page funnels them back to our website. Kind of like batting the prospect back and forth between the two. With our autoresponder providing the circulation for both.

We both believe that if we create a myspace page for every sales page we own we can accomplish alot more forward momentum for uncommitted prospects. We're making our website be the business end of the two and the myspace be just fun facts about that particular product with absolutely zero hard selling on it. When a skeptical prospect sees the myspace page they'll have had both hemispheres of their brain engaged and will help them get a better feel for what you're doing.

Plus having a a ton of friends on the myspace page gives the impression of implied credibility. Especially if you have friends leave comments talking up the product on your page.

The problem with autoresponders and sales pages in our opinion is the fact they are so one dimensional and leaves the prospect isolated from any sense of community. But once a prospect senses a community around the product we believe sales will increase as a result.

All these opinions are still mostly untested of course but early results point to success.

We think the whole key is to make the myspace page totally fun and goofy and full of friends.

Now it's your turn to tell us what the heck you are doing with myspace.

Help us improve please!

The thing with myspace is that many people like me get tired of getting friends request from people that we have never seen in our lives. I get a lot of friends request from people that market adult websites.
Maybe it works the way you say, having a page where you show information about products and having people commenting on your products so it shows that it is not a scam.

I'll try to create a new myspace profile related to the products I sell.

Good luck on your business.

Definitely an interesting concept. I may have to play around with something like that. I would love to get more traffic to my sites. I have a great product, just a, trying to find the most effective way to target an audience. Thanks for sharing. I will let you know if I have any success.

It would be nice if we could see some real proof that using MySpace and some of the many other social networks do actually provide you with good (I mean targeted) traffic.

Anyone care to share their results?

Regards

Well I am testing some of these tools right now. I have decided to take one of my sites and do no other advertising other than in social network areas and in forums. I am trying to see if I get any clicks with my signature posts and in social networking areas. I will let you know if my site gets any real traffic.

I am thinking about trying to use myspace as well. I think it could be a great way to reach customers when used effectively.
