Hi Kevin,
eWeek published a security alert for PhpBB users.
You may not be at risk... but it wouldn't hurt to make sure.
Regards,

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the tip...we are on to it, we don't see an issue at this time but we are not going to ignore it.
A little checking now could save a big headache later.
Cheers

Hi guys,
I have checked out details on phpBB.com and found that there is a security flaw in pre 2.0.11 version of phpBB.
You will need to upgrade your phpBB to stop if from being hacked.
A hacker has created a virus that crawls through web search engines and exploits phpBB security issues using pre 2.0.11 versions.
Remember to back up your databases and files before you do anything! And if you have made any mods, well, you will need to make them again or find a way to get around it!
Cheers,
Andrew |

Hi Folks,

As I understand it this worm only searches Google and Google began filtering the worm's queries late Tuesday night, effectively stopping the Santy propagation on vulnerable Web forums running phpBB software.
This doesn't eliminate the threat completely though. I understand over 40,000 websites have been affected.
According to an article on eWeek, it says:
However, according to an advisory from Kaspersky Lab, the Google filtering is not enough to solve the problem. "The author can always release new versions that use other search engines—MSN or Yahoo, for instance," the anti-virus research firm said in the advisory.
