How did you create your first web page, and what topic was it on? For what purpose did you create it?
My first was on the topic of global warming, and was created as part of an IT course I was doing with the Open University.
I coded it using HTML.
It was uploaded to the Open Uni's website.
So, come on guys, how about yourselves? Did you go straight in with HTML? Did you use Dreamweaver? |

| Do you still use Frontpage? Have you had a go at encoding with raw html? |

My first web page was written in 1995, and I don't think there were any editors for html at that time other than Notepad. I can't remember what the topic of the page was about.

I'd been living overseas for a couple of years, and had just returned to Australia in 1997. One of my clients was a recruitment company and they asked about websites ... neither of us knew anything so I did some research and created my first website for them.
We were all very excited, and I felt ever so proud of myself, but of course I cringe at the thought of that funny little site now haha. I created it using a Macintosh package - it was the first web design software from Claris - ahhhh the name just came back to, I think it was called Claris Home Page.
Oh boy, what a trip down memory lane!
Now I love to use open source software for website and other online solutions, like content management systems and customer records management systems. Such a wealth of knowledge online, I'm always learning.
Kevin - what about you?
Cheers

| My first page was created in 94/95 using a text editor. I think the page was about multiplayer game I was playing at the time. |

| I used WYSIWYG and I actually did good. I manipulated alot of the program and tried doing things that was against the rules but, I learned how to squeeze things in and stretch my tools until I got comfortable with HTML coding. I think my first site was an information site. |

| I think my first page was a redirect to my forum. It was basic Javascript, and it took lots of time how to figure out how to get it on the homepage (index.html). |

Like a lot of people, I made my first web page with Frontpage.
It wasn't the greatest, hey it was my first try
I made it just to write about what I am doing, a blog of sorts but I updated it manually. At the time I was unaware that there was web software that could do all the work for you.

| I used templates from freewebs.com and all I did was put affiliates links there but the purpose was to learn how to use html and all that. I'm still learning though. |

First website was done completely in HTML in notepad. LOL
I designed a site as a project for school and it was for a church. I started learning java some time after that and was so excited. The problem was that the church did not want anything flashy, they wanted plain. I was so frustrated. That is when I decided I would no longer make sites for other people (only personal use). I did not like that I had to design to their taste and not mine. |

Still learning!
Honestly I have never put together a Website as such, I have been dabbling with Blogs instead, Wordpress in fact.
It's basically plug and play, almost anyone can do it, well at least I think I can!!
I continue to experiment, I will let you have a peek at my efforts soon.

| The first website that I created was done using frontpage. This is actually how I learned HTML. I would set up the design and then go look at the code. I now use a program called Swish, which I love. It has the same effect as flash, but I have found it was easier to learn. |

My first website has been up for five years now http://www.ebusinessformula.com it has had several upgrades since then and badly needs another one now.
All I need is a bit of spare time unless someone volunteers to do it for me!
It still pulls good traffic so I must have done something right, If only I could remember what it was!
Cheers
