|
|
Not sure if this is a suitable area to post this question, but I was wondering how everyone tracks the downloads on their sites.
A few months back I joined a newsletter and in each email was a link for a *freebie* of some kinds, which always took me to a shopping cart where the product cost $0. I had to fill in my details each time, and I know this was probably the best way the site owner knew how to track people who downloaded.
I've now got a few freebies of my own I'd like to offer my eZine subscribers, and wondered if anyone else has an easy way to track who downloads what.
I thought I might be able to take them to a "sign up" page where their name and email might be captured before they go to the download page, but I don't want to have problems if their email name is already in my database.
Does anyone out there have a cool free way to do this? I'd love to hear your suggestions!
Cheers
Teena! |

Hi Tenna,
AnalogX ListMaster Pro is a free program that claims it can:
"...load and sort a list of over 100,000 addresses in under 10 seconds! It can removed duplicate entries from that same list in less than 2 seconds..."
Your ability to use this might depend on what program you are using to manage your list. If you were using Aweber.com, and using the broadcast feature, there is probably a way to make sure duplicate emails on the lists your are sending the broadcast to, don't receive multiple copies.
Best Regards,

Teena,
I think you need an "ad-tracker" or somthing similar. These will count the hits to a particular web page. I don't have a specific recommendation for one. They come in all flavors, some you can install on your web site, some you can pay for as a monthly service.
If you are using an autoresponder that is installed on your web site, it might have something to do the trick. I am using Multipacks and it has a built in one.
Have a good day. |

Teena,
I came across Harvey Segal's FREE ebook on Ad Tracking.
I read it a couple of years ago, and stumbled across it today.
Here is the link.

Hope this helps. |

Hi Teena,
This is by far the best tracker online that I've come across. It's actually used for tracking banners but you can track absolutely anything.
The downside is that it takes a while to set-up and get the hang of, good for affiliate theme sites or where you have quite a number of downloads.

Best thing, it's a freebie!
Cheers, Chris

| So do people get paid for freebie sign ups or is this just a way to market something? |
