Are Free ebooks Good Value?

Did you ever go to one of those sites online that do nothing but give away free ebooks?
You can’t even begin to imagine how many of them are out there. I saw one listing alone, it was in a forum, where this guy was giving away, get this, 100 free ebooks.

Well, I decided I was going to go through these “gems” to see if there was anything I could get out of them. They were all on Internet Marketing and related topics.
Surely there had to be at least one of them that was worth something.

Well after sifting through heaven knows how many of these books, I finally decided that my time could be well spent doing something else. Never in my life had I seen a collection of such poor material.

However, that doesn’t mean that free ebooks are not worth anything. There may very well be a free ebook out there that is actually worth the zero dollars that you paid for it.
But even if there isn’t, there is still a place for free ebooks in your Internet Marketing arsenal.

For starters, many free ebooks come with rights. The rights will be specifically stated either in the ebook itself or in a rights file. Many times, these rights include the right to either sell or give the ebook away yourself. Great! So what?

Well, if you have your own product that you just created and are looking for complimentary products to give away with yours, free ebooks may be the way to go. Certainly there has to be something out there, that while it may not be a literary masterpiece, it may compliment the book that you’re selling.
Sometimes a book that’s not all that good on its own, because the information is limited, is a perfect companion piece to another product. So don't rule out this possibility.

Another thing that free ebooks are good for is for use with membership sites.

Let’s say you have a membership site that gives PLR articles to its members. Now, everyone knows that in order to make efficient use of a PLR article, you should rewrite it some. But what if you don’t know how to rewrite a PLR article? What do you do then?

Well, if you can find a free ebook on the basics of article writing, your problem is solved.
It doesn’t have to be the greatest book ever written on the subject, but if it has the basic steps for writing an article, then it WILL be of use. Therefore, in this instance, that free ebook is actually worth something.

And of course we haven’t even gotten into the realm of creating your own free ebooks to give to people. How can these be worth it to you? Well, if you have links in those ebooks to other products of yours, then it is quite worthwhile.

Yeah, lots of free ebooks aren’t worth the price we paid for them. But every once in a while, you’ll find one that you can put to good use.
