Has anyone tried to boost their feedback rating through purchasing cheap digital products? I'm a little scared to do it fearing that eBay will have something against it, but considering that you're purchasing a legit product (eg a wallpaper for $0.01) it should be fine... right?
Any thoughts would be really appreciated! |

i dont think its a good method to boost your feedback buying cheap digital items..
people will usually consider solid feedback..that is normally some tangible item..like computers, wireless routers, etc etc.. |

| I understand what you're saying paranoid, but more often than not buyers will take a quick glance at your feedback number and go ahead and buy if it's high. Granted, if what you're selling is of high value (say $100+), buyers will check out your feedback for what you've been buying/selling - but it really shouldn't matter if you're selling cheap $3-$5 items. |

Do you really think that "Artificially" boosting your ratings in the manner suggested is of a benefit?
If you are posting a genuine descriptive and honest ad for your listing then the buyers will still come.
Just be honest and give potential purchasers the opportunity to make their own choices on the information provided.
Just my two cents!

Well I ended up buying 5 cheap items for $0.01 (and ended up with 5+ positive feedback). Just yesterday, eBay removed 3 of them without explanation. I'm going to guess that they caught onto the idea that I was trying to boost my rating.
So I think it's safe to say that it's not a good idea. |

| I do not think it is a good idea either. And even if your feedback as a buyer is good that does not necessarily boost your credibility as a seller. It can be two very different things. |

| I think it works up to some point. eBay users like sometimes just look at other users stats and not what they actually buy or sell. I mean usually look at 100% feedback no matter what they buy. But If I'm buying something expensive, then I do a deeper background check. |

| I have done this before and I don't really think there is anything wrong with it. In fact, I have had people by my digital stuff for feedback purposes. You can view the item that was purchased in the transaction, so you are not trying to hide anything. |
