Memory is very important for your product.
Some companies have made household names for their products so effectively that people tend see the brand names as generics.
For instance, a lot of people refer to toothpaste as Colgate, and in many third world countries, a computer operating system for them means Windows. They know no other brands.
The same is true with internet websites. When we say search engine, the name that easily comes to mind is Google. When we think online store, we think of amazon.com or when we think of online auction, ebay is first on our minds.
Good branding involves providing consistent good quality. Needless to say, satisfied people will always come back for more.
Here are some tips for effective branding of your website:
1. Cater to specific needs of people and maintain the quality of your services at a high level.
2. Expose your website. Make it known to people. Place logos consistently on top of your pages for easily brand memory recall.
3. Use descriptive domain names. For instance, if your website service caters for XYZ Island tours, the domain name www.xyzislandtours.com thoroughly summarizes your website and what you provide. If the domain name is already taken, you may want to modify it a bit for uniqueness.
4. If you website is selling products or services the addition of Verisign, leaders in encryption will provide credibilty. People need to be comfortable sending their credit card details over the internet and being Verisign accredited helps in this regard.
5. Offer freebies in your website. Write articles that give tips, information and tutorial on related topics.
Just some simple thoughts for you to ponder and help you establish your website.
Cheers
