Webinars...and various other descriptions are used these days by marketers to describe their online activities.
That is, they provide a free call phone link where you can listen to and interact with the the presenters.
This form of marketing is growing rapidly obviously because of the increasing difficulty of getting the email message delivered.
Have any of you here been part of one of these calls?, how would you rate the experience? and would you join in another call?
Or do you prefer other methods of communication?, if so please explain.
Cheers

For the most part, all the calls I've been on have been very informative. It's like with anything though. They give you the information and then tell you to buy. Most are worth the time if you are interested in the topic they are discussing. The first one I was on was from Gary Ambrose. He interview Mike Filsaime. (Maybe it was the other way around.) I got a lot of info from that one. I was on one with Michel Fortin about copy writing and it opened my eyes to a lot of things that helped my copy writing skills. There was only one that totally SUCKED. They promised all kinds of information and all they did was talk and talk and talk about joining their membership site and the benefits. I would have joined had they come through on the information promised if you got on the call. They didn't provide the information, so I figured their site wouldn't provide what they promised either... That's my take on it...

Hi Kevin,

For some marketers, that is only part of the reason.
I work for some high profile clients, and I'm limited to what I can say, and certainly can't pass on any names, but I can share some ideas I've seen.
The company puts on a tele-seminar for its top advisors with ground breaking information on a topic that most guru marketers don't even know about. Not only is this information valuable to the advisors, who can use it to attract new clients, the information can be immediately put to use by all of the advisors affiliates.
But only the top advisors were invited to the tele-seminar... not their affiliates.
The affiliates can access the whole recorded tele-seminar online provided they have been given an access code by their sponsor, but the advisors know the real power of this tele-seminar is by getting this information in front of new clients. So they can purchase multiple packages of CD's with each package having 25 CD's in it.
Each CD is worth $3.95 but several companies offer CD duplication, with some prices as low as #1.25 per CD depending on the quantity ordered. So if ONE advisor orders 1 package of 25 the company makes an estimated $67.50 -- after their costs.
The free tele-seminar was limited to 200 pre-qualified advisors and each month as more affiliates become advisors, new teleseminars are held and the new people get the invitation.
Of course I'm just the programmer... there is a lot that goes on that I don't know about. But if they aren't making a substantial profit from it, my guess would be that they wouldn't be interested in doing it every month. If you can make an extra $10,000 per month for 2 hours work giving a free tele-seminar, why wouldn't you?
I know this sounds pretty good, but it isn't applicable to all Internet Marketers. You need to have the following to be able to do something like this. Heck... if I were to give a free tele-seminar, I'd be lucky if I could convince my mother to sign up for it ... and I already know she isn't going to buy
Best Regards,

Hi Kevin!
From a listener's perspective, I can say that I personally like them ... IF the people doing them have my respect. I've gotten some excellent info from the likes of people such as John Reese, Marlon Sanders, Willie Crawford, Jim Edwards, Lynn Terry and others on these free teleseminars.
An interesting aspect of these is that while the seminars themselves are free, it's usually (not always) a toll call. For me ... the price of the toll calls has been WORTH the info I've gotten from these teleseminars.
Any person that's willing to pay the price of the "toll call", is probably VERY interested in what you have to say.
One thing though ... Get a speakerphone if you're gonna listen to many of these. Saves the "wear and tear" on the ears!
My nickel anyway ...
