Can someone please enlighten me in regards to Web 2.0, what is it?
It seems to be mentioned all over the place at present and I don't quite understand it, am I missing something important or is it just NET hype?
Regards

More hype than anything...
Tim O’Rilley is accredited with slapping the Web 2.0 label on the net which generally means user generated content. Following his definition, message forums, MySpace, Blogs, Wikipedia, and more, are Web 2.0 applications -- ones that engage the user as opposed to static web pages.

Thanks Steve,
A rather interesting article, you do need to read it more than once though to understand the message.

Web 2.0 is nothing more then a label. It is all about "user friendliness, ease of interfaces, and enhanced web technologies". This just includes making it easy for the average internet person to use a site. This is why social networks are taking off.
Everyone wants to be able to connect with eachother. People want a more "personalized" web. Customized to exactly what they want. And we finally have the technology and knowledge to accomplish such feats.
Web 2.0, in a nutshell, is just a friendlier, more personalized internet. |

| Basically Web 2.0 is selling yourself not the product. Such as video so the consumer can see you and connect with you. Myspace is also used to build trust and friends etc. Basically it is befriending someone before partnering up with them. Those are just 2 sites out of hundreds that are used |
